Terms & Conditions

Possession of the instrument

It is the responsibility of the Renter to take full ownership and responsibility for the entire outfit, which includes the instrument, bow, case, and all its components.

Payment

By renting from Clar Fine Violins, the Renter agrees to be charged on the first day of the month. The Renter must notify Clar Fine Violins of any changes in credit card information to ensure timely payments. Failure to inform Clar Fine Violins of any changes in payment method may result in late fees.

Maintenance fee

Maintenance of the instrument(s) is included in the total rental fee. Clar Fine Violins will repair any common issues, such as seam openings or improperly functioning materials, at no additional cost to the renter.

The Renter is responsible for fixing any damage done to the instrument, such as cracks, excessive wear and tear, broken parts, etc., which is not included in the maintenance fee. Clar Fine Violins reserves the right to be the sole authority to determine the repair cost of an instrument and to perform or authorize any repairs.

The maintenance fee does not cover supplies such as bows, strings, cases, shoulder rests, and other accessories.
70% of the rental fees paid (except the maintenance fee) can be applied towards the purchase of the instrument that you rent.

50% of the rental fees paid (except the maintenance fee) can be applied towards the purchase of a different instrument.

Accidental damage

Clar Fine Violins acknowledges that accidents can occur. The Renter is not allowed to perform any repairs on the instrument rented, its components, or any of the outfit’s components.
In case of accidental damage to the instrument, its components, or outfits, the Renter should contact Clar Fine Violins to arrange an evaluation and determine a course of action.
Clar Fine Violins does not authorize the Renter from using the services of other shops or independent luthiers to remedy accidental damage. All repairs on instruments rented from Clar Fine Violins must be performed by Clar Fine Violins.

Clar Fine Violins will not offer reimbursement to the Renter for any unauthorized repairs, purchases, or any other form of replacement – including any shipping and handling charges or any associated costs incurred by the Renter for any rental outfit component at any time.

Loss or total damage

In the instance of the instrument being lost, stolen, or damaged (beyond possible repairs) as assessed by Clar Fine Violins, the Renter will be responsible for 100% of the instrument’s value. In such circumstances, 70% of the rental fee paid until the date of damage will be applied to the instrument’s value.

Clar Fine Violins will not offer reimbursement to the Renter for any unauthorized repairs, purchases, or any other form of replacement – including any shipping and handling charges or any associated costs incurred by the Renter for any rental outfit component at any time.

Insurance

The Renter will be responsible for insuring rental instrument and outfit components in case of loss or damage (reasonable wear and tear as determined by Clar Fine Violins excepted) until the instrument outfit is returned.

Clar Fine Violins reserves the right to be the sole authority to determine the repair cost of an instrument and to perform or authorize any repairs.

Upon receipt of the instrument, the renter is required to inspect it for any prior damage. Within 24 hours of receiving the instrument, the renter is required to contact Clar Fine Violins if they notice any damage. Any damage observed after this period will be considered to have occurred during the Renter’s possession.

In the event that an instrument is damaged beyond reasonable repair, a replacement instrument can be issued to the Renter. Any damage incurred without insurance coverage will result in the Renter being financially responsible for the cost of replacement or repair, as deemed necessary by Clar Fine Violins.

If the instrument is not returned by the Renter within seven days after the due date, the rental agreement will be renewed automatically at a monthly rate, plus a one-time $10 late fee via credit card authorized in this agreement.

Past due balances may be subject to late fees, collection, or termination of this and any future rental agreements.

In order to avoid any penalties being assessed to their account, the Renter must notify Clar Fine Violins of any changes made to their payment details, address, or phone numbers.
